OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY DIVISION OF THE LABOR MINISTRY OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC RECOGNIZES BAXTER HAINA
The General Directorate for Industrial Security and Hygiene, a division of the Labor Ministry of the Dominican Republic, recognized Baxter Haina for its commitment to the prevention of occupational risks in accordance with the administration of our occupational safety and health program, granting program certification for the 2017-2020 period, regarding compliance with Dominican Regulation 522-06 on occupational health and safety.
BAXTER DOMINICAN REPUBLIC SUPPORTS ITS MISSION OF THE SUSTAINABLE SAVING AND MAINTAINING OF LIVES:
Gerardo Coto, plant manager of Baxter Haina has been named appointed president of the Medical Cluster of Dominican Republic manage by the Dominican Free Zone Association (ADOZONA. One of his first tasks, in support with ADOZONA, the National Council of Free Zones (CNZFE), and the Technology Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC) is on the education area, putting in place an industrial engineering degree, which will include: metrology, industry regulations and standards for medical devices and pharmaceuticals, products, processes, and validation of equipment, clean manufacturing, among areas.
Together they will train human talent to improve the competitiveness of the medical device and pharmaceuticals industry.
The medical device industry is one of the promising sector within the Dominican Free Zone segment, therefore the improvement of the human talent is key to continue the competitiveness. Currently is composed of 28 companies, including: Edwards, B. Braun, Cardinal Health, Convatec, Fenwal, Ecolab, Carefusion, Remmed, Medtronic, and others.

MAJOR FDA INSPECTION MILESTONE IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.
During May, Baxter Haina, Dominican Republic (DR) manufacturing and quality teams completed a successful multi-day FDA inspection with no observations. This was the first-ever FDA inspection for the DR facility, which has been operating since 2013. This outcome represents an outstanding accomplishment by the local team, and reflects Baxter’s continuing momentum in pursuing the top-quartile standing in quality and patient safety.
