With the objective of encouraging tax-related education and the correct implementation of current tax norms, the General Internal Tax Directorate (DGII) began a training session targeted at free zone businessmen, in collaboration with the National Free Zone Council (CNZFE) and the Dominican Free Zone Association (ADOZONA).

Opening remarks were given by José Manuel Torres, executive director of ADOZONA, who welcomed all those attending.  Representing the DGII was Hamlet Gutiérrez, Manager for Special Regimes, and Luz Castro, head of the Tax Education Department.  They were accompanied by Federico Domínguez, president of ADOZONA, Daniel Liranzo, deputy executive director of the CNZFE, and Melvin Valley, Financial Manager for the PIISA Industrial Park.

This first training session was held in the PIISA Industrial Park, by the DGII Department of Tax Education, and will consist of a total of 12 workshops nationwide on tax-related matters affecting the free zone sector.

Free zone businessmen participating in the first training expressed their satisfaction at being able to inform the DGII of their concerns on tax-related matters and the expediting of fiscal procedures and processes.
