THE PARK

Our story began in the decade of the 1980´s, with the vision of the first private industrial free zone park on 150 acres, targeted mainly at large multinational corporations. At the end of 1985, we inaugurated our operations with the prestigious American firm of Westinghouse Electric Corporation, for whom we constructed the first 4 buildings housing some 1,200 employees. The following year we received the company of Hanes Knitwear, which introduced its underwear sewing operations, thereby creating some 800 additional jobs. Over the years that followed, more foreign medical-device manufacturers arrived, such as Baxter, Johnson & Johnson, Eli Lilly, Bristol Myers, Ayerst- Wyeth, and others. Since the beginning, PIISA has adopted the highest quality standards in urban development and services through which it has attracted more companies from other sectors, including electronics, packaging, services, logistics, etc. Despite the fact that the Dominican Republic has continued to establish new free zone parks in different areas of the island, PIISA has maintained a constant growth, making it the leader in capturing high-technology companies.

At present PIISA represents 11,500 direct jobs in the manufacturing of products of high added value for the pharmaceutical and electronic industries destined for the United States, European, and Japanese markets, and occupying 1.9mm of square feet of construction. We can proudly say that according to the National Free Zone Council’s annual statistics with barely 8% off total employment, PIISA represents 20% of total exports. As part of our continuous growth, our horizon has expanded to the capital city of Santo Domingo, where we acquired two office buildings to house support operations for the hotel, telecommunication, and logistics industry. One of the buildings is located on Lope de Vega Avenue, and the other on Independencia Avenue, with both totaling 30,000 square feet.
